right.. today is like the third week of this year.. and my first post? nope.. maybe second. LOL. i shall attempt to blog in the midst of trying to scratch my leg. GRRR..
obs ended last friday. i shant say it was an amaazzzziinnnggggg trip.. i shant say it was the lousiest trip ever. but.. i can say, its much better than having to study in school. TOKING ABT SCHOOL.. today i went to school, onli having one block of lesson-english. the rest of the teachers were gone to accompany their form class at obs. SIGH.. onli one block of lesson for the whole day. JUST IMAGINE. ok.. nvm.. lemme cont the obs recount. :S
well, glad to say, i got into residential. i am quite sure it was much better than landing up in mobile throughout the whole week. yep.. was in the same watch as the first half of my class. MARSHALL. (yep, thats my watch) and.. my instructor was THE LUM. (you can add a "p" at the back..) he is the second lamest guy i have ever seen (most lame is STILL KT).
we got to punggol jetty at ard 9? and had to wait a bloody long time coz there were RI guys there and we were apparently the LAST class to board the boat to pulau ubin. everyone settled into the obs hall at ard 11 and we were briefed and all that.. basically the first day was full of admin stuff and we din have time to play ard, partly coz it started raining too. but we did some belaying practice though.. :S then we went to sleep in the "insect-filled" dorm.. and from that night on, i seriously know how to appreciate my wonderful bed at home.
next day.. we woke up at 5 coz we had to assemble at 555 at the flag poles for FLAG RAISING? hahha. after which, we did some PTs.. and we were onli made to run 6 rounds ard the hall since it was raining outside (AS USUAL). after breakfast, we went kayaking!!! haha.. i had to leave my specs on shore coz i totally refused to tie it with the spastic looking nylon cord. so yep.. i was close to blind for the whole of the kayaking journey. we had to capsize halfway and it was quite tough getting the kayak back to OPERATION. LOL.. right.. then we kayak to obs camp 2 to do a jetty jump..(which i had done b4 during p5 camp at the SAME LOCATION).. sigh.. so it was like.rather repetitive. but obviously i jumped off anyway. then after jetty jumping, we kayak back. and had lunch. then we went rockclimbing!! it was really fun. haha. i climbed with cheryl too.. as in.. we were connected by this string thingo and we had to climb together. :Dbut we onli reached the 9th panel? so sad. anywayy.. tts abt the second day la. then went to sleep and bla bla.
THIRD DAY - first day of expedition. we had to "EARN" our food by playing this crazy game whereby the whole watch has to stand on bricks and planks. :S okie.. but lets skip that part. then after that, we set off, not knowing how we can even exit the obs compund. GRR.. and obviously LUM said nothing and gave us a crazy and evil smile, as if trying to suggest that we are like stupid idiots finding our way round a dense jungle. SIGH. but after a long long time, he finally told us the way out. GRR.. navigating wasnt that hard but climbing up the hill might be a bit frustrating coz there are like tons of INSECTS and i could onli remember spraying insect repellent throughout the whole time. we managed to find tree 11 without losing our way but we couldnt reach the peak of the highest hill in pulau ubin - our second goal of the expedition. we walked for what seemed like a million years and finally reached our campsite where we could finally FLING our DAMN bags down (pardon me). we rushed to pitch our tents, but unfortunately, it started raining like mad. everything became wet, our bags, ponchos, canvas, shirt, shoes.. just EVERYTHING. but apparently, it stopped to let us have dinner. after we piled into the squeezy tents, it started pouring again. SIGH. and the tent sort of collapsed on us. our ground sheet was wet and everything wet ALL OVER AGAIN. how nice. most of us din sleep while some slept like nothing happened...
forth day. we left the campsite after packing everything.. as expected, it was raining like siao. but we still had to have our morning circle in the open-basketball court. both watches sat in a circle, passed ard a bottle of milo, which lum cooked for us. we were like idiots sitting in the rain and having breakfast. then, i promised myself i will never do something as stupid again. both watches left for the second destination and finally reached our last destination- the quarry. it was really a nice place coz the water was warm. we built a raft in the rain for 1.5h.. i shant say anything abt the quality of our raft, but there was definitely more room for improvement. :D then we paddled our raft out into the quarry and we had a nice bath there! :D after everything, we had our dinner and continued tracking towards our campsite at 9pm. YES. in pitch darkness. it was rather dangerous coz many of us din have torchlight and people like me, who were half walking and half sleeping din even know where we are walking to. so it was like.. just follow those pair of white shoes in front of you. i dunno how i could have survived if the person in front of me were wearing black ones. :S LOL. but anyway.. we reached our campsite at 11 and finish pitching the tent at 12. and went to sleep under cold conditions. yep.. knowing that it will be our last night in obs, we din complain or grumble a lot.. unexpectedly, it din rain that night.. (WOWWWWWW)
we woke up at 5 the next morning to unpitch our tents and pack up to get back to obs. we set off at 7am and reached our campsite ard 8. HOW CHEATER LA. we could have just walked back the night b4 and sleep in the more comfortable bunks. but anyway.. most of us were still glad that the expedition was over. covered with bites from annoymous insects, we went back and washed up, packed up. after lunch, we gathered in the hall and saw kt.. SIGH. the parting part was rather sad.. coz we couldnt possibly give lum a hug or sumthing. when we were singing dedication, he was ald feeling uncomfortable having to put his hands ard our shoulders. so yep.. that part was sad. :( we boarded a speedboat back to punggol and this time, we were the FIRST TO LEAVE.. HEHH..
yep.. that is abt the end of my recount of obs. surprisingly no one fell terrible sick after getting drenched in the rain for consecutive 4 days? :D haha. but it was evident that everyone was scratching all over in school today. but i still have to wish those friends who are currently in obs now good luck. pray that they will get fine weather. haha.. not RAIN anymore. but they willbe getting mobile though. :S i was just joking with some frenz today that after the second batch is back, the sec3 batch will be half red indian and half chinese. LOL. : P how lame.. but ya.. tts all for now. CYAA
